Just Another Memory to Forget
Penned by D.C. Mitchell
I put ink to paper and penned you a letter
Page after page, the words flow
As memories and emotions flood my heart and soul.
Butterflies ensue
Remembering the day I met you.
At last, face to face
Being held in a tight embrace.
My soul danced at the memory of being close to you.
I believe your soul felt it too.
Lips against mine, heart to heart
We knew it was something special from the start.
With remembering how we used to be
Comes the memory of how you turned from me.
I read the pages to make sure nothing was missed,
Then I sealed the letter with a kiss.
Sadly, like the letters before,
This one too will become ashes on the fireplace floor.
Honestly, what more can I say that I haven't already said,
What more can I write that you haven't already read?
Again, I will remind myself
As you have found someone else,
You are a fond memory to remember
And yet still another memory to forget.
