My Mother
Penned by D.C. Mitchell
I know a woman that has lived many years
Her face shows signs of smiles, laughter and tears.
Slightly weathered hands of years in the sun
She is always doing something until her day is done.
She isn’t without fault but she did her best
To teach us to succeed when put to the test.
She has always tried to lead by example
Even when life wasn’t that simple.
She taught me without hard work nothing is gained,
A moral I will forever retain.
This woman, beautiful, strong and brave
With sacrifices made, love she willing gave.
Through the years I’ve come to see
Without her I wouldn’t have become me.
To this woman who I admire and look up to
Who has taught me much, I love you.
My teacher, my friend, my hero ~ my mother.
